SUMMARY:Infinite Security: Reimagining Cyber Defence from the Inside Out
DESCRIPTION:ISC2 Gauteng Chapter Event \nEVENT FORMAT: Virtual \nDate: Thursday\, 4 Sep 2025 \nEvent Agenda\n18:00: Welcome (Daryl Nyawasha – Secretary) \n18:05: Infinite Security: Reimagining Cyber Defence from the Inside Out (Dinesh Govender) \n18:50 Q&A Session (Innocent Katanda – Treasurer) \n19:00 Vote of Thanks and Conclusion (Kemeshan Moodley – Member Chair \nREGISTER NOW\n  \nHeadline: Zero Trust\, The Journey \nTopic: Infinite Security: Reimagining Cyber Defence from the Inside Out \n  \nSpeaker/s: Dinesh Govender\, President\, ISC2 Gauteng Chapter \n  \nSummary \nIn today’s cloud-first\, perimeter-less enterprise\, traditional security models fall short. This presentation introduces Zero Trust as a modern framework built on three core principles: verify explicitly\, enforce least privilege\, and assume breach. With remote work\, SaaS\, IoT\, and evolving threat vectors like credential abuse and insider risk\, Zero Trust offers a strategic opportunity to reduce the blast radius\, enhance visibility\, and accelerate secure cloud adoption—without compromising user experience. \nZero Trust continuously verifies identity\, device posture\, and access privileges\, applying dynamic policies and micro segmentation to protect data. Core tenets include contextual verification\, just-in-time access\, device health checks\, and telemetry-driven decisions. A high-level reference architecture spans identity\, devices\, apps\, data\, policy orchestration\, and analytics. \nComparing ZTNA to VPN highlights granular\, per-app access and improved posture awareness. Data-centric security ensures access decisions are driven by classification\, encryption\, and DLP. The roadmap outlines phased implementation—from assessment to optimisation and governance. \n  \n \nBio: Dinesh Govender \n\nCurrently leads Cybersecurity\, IT Compliance and Digital Networks for Africa for a large multinational corporation\nA cybersecurity professional with over 25 years of experience guiding global organisations through the evolving landscape of digital security.\nMaintains a commitment to professional excellence and continuous learning through his cybersecurity certifications: CISSP\, CISM\, and CEH and is passionate about building a safer digital world.\nActively volunteers as Chapter President of the ISC2 Gauteng Chapter—one of Africa’s leading cybersecurity communities—where he fosters collaboration among security professionals and champions initiatives that promote cyber awareness and resilience across society.
